Welcome to ATES - Mrs. Sherry Washington, Principal
We want to extend a huge welcome to Mrs. Sherry Washington. As of January 1, 2025, Mrs. Washington assumes her new role as principal of Atoka Elementary School. She is a life-long Tipton County native who graduated from Munford High School in 1997 and obtained her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Crichton College. After teaching at Crestview Elementary for two years, she moved to Brighton Middle School where she taught reading and English for nine years. During this time, she also earned her Master of Arts in Educational Leadership. In 2017, she went to Covington High as the Instructional Facilitator to oversee the Title I and RTI programs. In 2019, she began as assistant principal at CHS. We're excited that she will be bringing experience from all levels of K-12 education with her.
On a personal note, Mrs. Washington is married and has two children and two grandchildren. She is the praise and worship leader at her church and enjoys watching football, gardening, reading, camping, and spending time with her family.
